Assessors approve $300,000 overlay release for schools and town

IPSWICH — The Ipswich Board of Assessors approved release of $300,000 from overlay reserves to support town and school fiscal 2027 budgets. Chairperson Mary-Lou Ireland, M.A.A., led the approval of Interim Town Manager Thomas Younger's request, designating $200,000 for the combined town and school FY27 budget and $100,000 for additional town needs. The board processed February 2026 abatement reports totaling $21,049.74 across motor vehicle excise, real estate, boat excise, and personal property categories.

January 2026 real estate abatements of $83,862.77 were also approved.
