IPSWICH — The Waterways Advisory Committee discussed an engineering report showing the town's waterfront seawall is failing and requires immediate replacement. Committee members selected a grant-funded proposal to repair the wall while adding a commercial wharf and docks for approximately $720,000 in town funds, compared with a minimum of $1.3 million to replace just the wall alone. The grant would cover about 80 percent of the entire project cost.
Chair Chris Murray said the committee plans to meet with the Select Board in early August or September to discuss timing, with an eye toward including the project in the town's 2028 budget and conducting public outreach.
