Finance Committee · Meeting of April 9, 2026

IPSWICH — Finance Committee voted to support positions on 18 warrant articles for the Annual Town Meeting, with the major decision to reduce proposed wastewater borrowing from $3 million to $1.5 million. Committee Chair Emilie Smith led the April 9 hearing, during which members voted 7-2 to support a public safety facility despite concerns it could affect support for a future school building. The Committee voted unanimously to oppose historic register designation for a dam and unanimously backed an independent Electric Light Department Commission.

The Committee split 5-4 on a citizens' petition for free beach access and 5-4 on whether Town Meeting should take a position on a national political issue.
