Ipswich Assessors commit $281,475 in motor vehicle excise

IPSWICH — The Ipswich Board of Assessors committed motor vehicle and trailer excise for 2026. Chairperson Mary-Lou Ireland, M.A.A., and members David Feldman and Sean McFadden certified the $281,475.45 commitment to Collector of Taxes Kevin Merz. The board approved March abatements totaling $6,561.42 in 2026 motor vehicle excise, $103.02 in prior-year 2025 motor vehicle excise, $73 in 2026 boat excise, $46,256.16 in real estate property taxes, and $15.96 in personal property taxes.
The board convened in executive session from 6:30 to 7:47 p.m. to discuss and act upon additional abatements and statutory exemptions.
