Ipswich outlined a revised budget process for fiscal year 2028 amid significant anticipated challenges. The Select Board, Finance Committee, and School Committee agreed to begin FY28 projections in September for a more orderly process including a Tri-Board meeting in January and sequential hearings before warrant finalization, according to Michael Dougherty, Select Board Chair. Brendan Sweeney, Town Manager, said the revised approach is designed to identify budget challenges early.

The town's Feoffees endowment fund reached approximately $50 million as of June 30, distributing approximately $1.3 million annually and reporting a 13.4 percent return for the most recent 12 months. Two Special Town Meetings on September 8 and October 20 will address warrant articles including a request for approximately $240,000 for school capital projects.
