School Building Committee approves 805-student enrollment projection for MSBA submission

School Building Committee · Meeting of March 12, 2026

IPSWICH — School Building Committee submits 805-student enrollment projection to Massachusetts School Building Authority. Chair Michael S. Dougherty and eight committee members voted 8-1 to accept the MSBA's recommendation, overriding Finance Committee Representative Jamie Fay's push for a lower figure of 767 students; Fay cited demographic analysis and comparative data from other towns, but his amendment to reduce the projection received no second.

Superintendent Dr. Brian J. Blake presented results from multiple MSBA enrollment calls conducted in February and March that revised the initial projection downward from 835 to 805 students.

The committee also voted unanimously to approve prior meeting minutes and discussed forming a subcommittee to expedite the committee's website launch.
