Select Board approves Brendan Sweeney as new Town Manager

IPSWICH — Select Board approves three-year contract with new Town Manager Brendan Sweeney, effective May 26. Chair Charles Surpitski was authorized to sign the agreement in Executive Session, with Michael Dougherty, Vice Chair, Sarah Player, Linda Alexson, and Carl Nylen voting unanimously to approve. Interim Town Manager Thomas Younger thanked the Board, town staff, and residents for their support and encouraged his successor to engage with town boards and committees.
The Board also unanimously elected Michael Dougherty as Chair and Carl Nylen as Vice Chair for the upcoming year, and held a retreat discussion with the incoming manager scheduled for May 26 to address goals, expectations, and future direction.
