Select Board approves letter to legislature on electric utility governance.
Select Board (Formerly Board of Selectmen) · Meeting of June 8, 2026
IPSWICH — Select Board approves letter to legislature on electric utility governance. Chair Michael Dougherty and the five-member board voted unanimously to transmit the Home Rule Petition approved at Annual Town Meeting, after requesting revisions including addition of ELD Manager Dylan Lewellyn to the copy list and collection of all five board member signatures. The board also discussed scheduling a Special Town Meeting and election for the Public Safety Building project, with Vice Chair Carl Nylen advocating for inclusion in the October 20 meeting and November 3 General Election rather than a standalone September vote, citing lower cost and additional public outreach time.
ELD Manager Lewellyn reported the department has secured a five-year agreement with Stetson Wind and an additional hydroelectric agreement with Brookfield to offset the loss of the Hydro-Québec contract.
