Select Board extends outdoor dining season through Labor Day

IPSWICH — Select Board unanimously extends outdoor dining season through Labor Day. The Board voted 4-0 to approve the expansion from the Friday before Memorial Day through the Friday after Labor Day, responding to a request from Bud Siciliano, co-owner of Heart and Soul Café, to add May and September to the permitted calendar. Chair Charles Surpitski noted that the decision addresses both parking-space use and sidewalk dining; Robert Vallis, owner of The Brown Dog, said the parking allocation has been crucial to his nine-year operation.
Interim Town Manager Thomas Younger recommended the Board develop formal written regulations for outdoor dining moving forward.
