Ipswich Select Board unanimously offers Town Manager job to Brendan Sweeney. The five-member Board, led by Chair Charles Surpitski, completed its search by voting 5-0 on April 9 to extend an offer to Sweeney, citing his knowledge of Ipswich, elected official experience, financial and procurement background, and community ties. Vice Chair Michael Dougherty noted the strength of both finalists but said Sweeney aligns with the Board's stated priorities for a leader ready to work immediately and unify staff.
The Board then entered executive session to negotiate contract terms with Sweeney and Interim Town Manager Thomas Younger.
