Select Board (Formerly Board of Selectmen) · Meeting of June 15, 2026

IPSWICH — The Ipswich Select Board voted to schedule a September 8 Special Town Meeting for the Public Safety Facility project, moving the vote forward to control construction costs escalating at approximately 32,000 dollars per week. Charles D. Surpitski moved the motion, which passed 3-1 with one abstention; Chair Michael S.

Dougherty abstained citing the need for the existing Fall Town Meeting to maximize voter participation, while Vice Chair Carl Nylen opposed, concerned about voter confusion from multiple meetings. The Board estimated that delaying the vote to October would add nearly 200,000 dollars to project costs. In separate business, the Board approved Fiscal Year 2026 appropriation transfers for snow and ice and legal services deficits, and referred proposed zoning amendments on accessory dwelling units to the Planning Board for a July 23 hearing.
