IPSWICH — Waterways Advisory Committee advances commercial wharf and wall engineering designs. Chairman Chris Murray and seven committee members reviewed three wharf and three wall-dredge concepts from Tighe & Bond, with members expressing strong preference for Wharf Alternate 2 for its space optimization. Final designs are expected around May, when the Select Board will review each option and its cost; the state grant covers 80 percent of the project while the town covers 20 percent, far less than the cost of wall repair alone.
The committee also addressed a contaminated Shellfish River closure, directing staff to push the Army Corps of Engineers to file a permit for EPA and MassDEP review of contamination levels.
