School Committee Postpones Green Street Land Vote

School Committee · Meeting of October 15, 2026

Ipswich School Committee delayed a vote on disputed Green Street land needed for a town pump station. Chair Jennifer Donahue presented a 1935 town meeting record showing a 213-1 vote placing the land under school control, while member Andrew argued the panel should secure a written memorandum of understanding with the Select Board before backing Article 9 at Tuesday's special town meeting, The committee also heard Director of Teaching and Learning Dr. Tracy Wagner report Ipswich MCAS scores "above the state average, sometimes double," with accountability scores of 71 to 79 percent across its four schools. Members unanimously approved a 45-student overnight Model UN trip to Boston and five Massachusetts Association of School Committees resolutions, with one abstention on a seclusion-standards measure.

The school choice revolving fund balance fell to $745,000, its first dip below $1 million.
