Ipswich parent accuses schools of ignoring AED, safety warnings at lacrosse game.
School Committee · Meeting of May 7, 2026
Ipswich parent accuses schools of ignoring AED, safety warnings at lacrosse game. Kathleen Donahar Spinelli told the School Committee an AED box sat empty and emergency gates were chained shut during a March 21 boys lacrosse scrimmage, violations she said she had flagged to administrators since 2023. Parent Cindy Sidroni said her son "played an entire game with a concussion" after no trainer evaluated him.
The board took no action on the complaints but separately approved a revised wellness policy, an eight-day England tour for about 200 music students in April 2027, and access to $100,000 from its special education reserve fund, its first use of that fund since 2017. Finance staff also reported April expenditures of $4,215,695.96 and a possible $16,000 boost from a pending state Chapter 70 increase.
