Ipswich schools chief announces 2027 retirement as committee locks in budget and warrant votes. Superintendent Blake told the School Committee he will not seek a contract extension and plans to retire in August 2027, his 25th year as a superintendent. The board voted unanimously to apply an unexpected $50,224 town-contribution increase toward reducing its stabilization-fund drawdown, keeping the FY27 budget at $41,332,490.

Members worked through all 18 annual town meeting warrant articles, recommending the public safety building borrowing and a $3 million wastewater article 6-0 while flagging a Finance Committee move to cut that figure to $1.5 million, splitting 4-0 (three abstaining) on a citizen petition over presidential conduct, and voting 6-0 to oppose eliminating the resident beach sticker fee. "We've done a great job of pushing it out now two years... and significantly bring down the cost of the next override," said budget subcommittee member Sasha.
