Ipswich School Committee adopts new athletics oversight policy as capital funding shrinks. Superintendent Dr. Blake told the board the district's fiscal 2027 capital request of $2.5 million was cut to $1.1 million, forcing a choice between window and ceiling repairs at Winthrop School, while two boiler replacements, at the high school and Doyon, remain "must-haves." Members voted unanimously to adopt revised athletic policy JJIB, creating an Athletics Working Group.
The board also postponed a decision on allocating $837,891 in Feoffees funds between TWIG and PAIN grants to its April 2 meeting, with both grant deadlines set for April 17. Blake reported the school building committee accepted MSBA enrollment projections, moving Ipswich toward the feasibility phase for a new elementary school. The committee also approved an overnight Boston trip for the high school theater program, a METG finalist for the first time in 40 years.
